Pride Health is hiring an experienced Pathologist Assistant to join the Surgical Pathology team in a high-volume, academic healthcare setting in Chicago, IL 60611. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in specimen processing, surgical pathology, and laboratory procedures, along with the ability to train residents and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Professional Skills & Training

• Assist and train Pathology Residents in gross room techniques.
• Provide guidance on proper specimen handling and processing.

Specimen Processing & Handling

• Perform gross and microscopic photography.
• Obtain biological samples for flow cytometry and image analysis.
• Review and integrate patient clinical data (e.g., scans, X-rays, lab results).
• Perform radiography as needed.

Surgical Pathology

• Conduct macroscopic descriptions of gross anatomic features.
• Prepare tissues for histological processing.
• Section surgical pathology specimens with precision.
• Ensure proper specimen fixation and storage.

Compliance & Quality

• Follow established hospital, laboratory, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.

Qualifications

Required:

• Master of Science, Pathologist Assistant II degree, and ASCP certification (or eligible)
• OR Illinois licensed MD/DO with current or completed anatomical pathology enrollment
• 2–5 years of relevant experience
• Travel experience required
