MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, and professional Junior Security Administrator to join our Management Information Systems team! Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Information Technology role, with some exposure to security concepts and practices. 
  • Basic understanding of networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS,  Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and their security features. 
  • Knowledge of common security threats and vulnerabilities (malware, phishing, social engineering). 
  • Understanding of access control principles (least privilege, separation of duties). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies and adapt to a changing threat landscape.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of security measures to protect the organization's networks, systems, and data.
  • Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools (e.g., SIEM, intrusion detection systems) and perform initial analysis and triage.
  • Support the administration of user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure alignment with security policies.
  • Participate in vulnerability scanning and assist in the remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
  • Support the incident response process by assisting with the investigation and documentation of security incidents.
  • Contribute to the development of security policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Provide security awareness support and training to staff.
  • Assist with the configuration and troubleshooting of security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, endpoint protection, and email security gateways.
  • Stay informed about the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure security is integrated into IT operations and projects.
  • Perform regular security audits and reviews as directed.
