GA Teaching - Geography, Geology, and the Environment - Fiscal Year 2026 Job no: 520173 Work type: On Campus Location: Normal, Illinois Title: GA Teaching - Geography, Geology, and the Environment - Fiscal Year 2026 Division Name: Academic Affairs Department: Geography, Geology, and the Environment Campus Location: Normal, IL Job Summary The majority of the graduate teaching assistants primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below:

  1. Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory
  2. Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks
  3. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or
laboratory 4. Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab, etc. For this position, Teaching Assistants typically will teach two sections of GEO 102 - Planet Earth. Some positions may be assigned after August enrollment for class ends. Salary Rate / Pay Rate $1148/Monthly Required Qualifications

  2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student in Hydrogeology Master's program at Illinois State University.
  3. For Teaching Assistant positions, State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the
English language as a requirement for this position. Work Hours Will be determined at a staff meeting TBA in August about a week before classes begin or by the supervising faculty.
