Job Description

Position: Senior Estimator.
Company: WorkSkill Staffing (on behalf of our client).

 
Job Summary:
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring all necessary details are covered to successfully bid and win projects. You will maintain constant communication with subcontractors for aggressive follow-ups to ensure that bids are received. Additionally, you will work closely with Project Management teams to follow up on bids and budgets to close business opportunities.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for bid administration in preparing full estimates on complex work. 
• Prepare and maintain status of plan reproduction. 
• Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors. Prepare subcontractor bid packages. 
• Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors. 
• Coordinate and interface with owners, architects, engineers, project managers, and other project team members to resolve any technical matters during planning and development, negotiation, and contract execution. 
• Ensure proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day. 
• Show creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors. 
• Submit 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline with no exceptions. 
• Efficiently perform all stages of an estimate including project selection, estimate organization, take-off, pricing, review, and closeout. 
• Communicate project progress/status with Management. 
• Prepare, analyze, and maintain accurate quantities and thorough take-offs from plans. 
• Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for job completion. 

Job Skills & Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience working in ground-up construction and interior build-outs. 
• BS degree in civil engineering or construction management is preferred. 

Additional Skills & Abilities: 

• Proficiency with estimating software and spreadsheet software. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective business relationships. 
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates. 
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment. 
• Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines. 
• Knowledge of applicable city, county, state, and federal building codes and regulations. 
• Highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills. 
• Familiarity with contract negotiations, including terms and conditions. 
• Excellent time management skills to predict potential delays and propose solutions in advance.
